I didn’t grow up thinking I’d start a brand.
Honestly, even a year ago, the thought would’ve made me laugh. Too much pressure. Too many variables. Way too uncertain.

But life, as it turns out, has a weird way of rearranging your plans.

I got laid off from my consulting job in early spring — one of those “it’s not you, it’s the market” situations. At first, I told myself it was fine. That I needed a break anyway. That maybe I’d finally figure out what I really wanted to do. (Spoiler: I didn’t. Not right away.)

What actually happened was... nothing.
I stayed in bed a lot. Slept weird hours. Half-heartedly updated my resume. Scrolled through job boards, got overwhelmed, shut my laptop. Repeat.

There was this quiet, low-grade panic humming in the background all the time. I wasn't falling apart exactly — but I wasn’t okay either.

So… Incense?

One evening — no special evening — I lay down on the floor wearing a T-shirt that had almost definitely not been washed in three days and tried to figure out whether toast was dinner. It was the light in the living room. My phone was overheating. You get the vibe.

Between “I really should clean this place” and “maybe I’ll nap rather than eat,” I remembered this wooden box my uncle had given me, oh, forever ago. One of those things you thank the gift-giver for and then shove into the back of a closet along with all your tangled tote bags.

The Shift

A few weeks later, a friend came over. She’d been going through her own chaos — job stress, breakup, no appetite, the works. I handed her one of the sticks without thinking much.

A few days later, she texted:
“Not sure what you gave me, but I actually slept last night.”

And that’s when it clicked.

This wasn’t about incense as decor.
It wasn’t about wellness trends or aesthetic rituals.
It was about relief. Emotional relief. Sensory comfort. That moment when you let go — even just for 20 minutes — and feel something shift.

✨ AUROMUSE Was Never Meant To Be a Brand

It was just me and two friends — all of us going through our own little breakdowns in different ways — clinging to this tiny, oddly comforting habit that helped us feel a bit more human again.

So we went deeper.
We talked to traditional incense makers. Learned about agarwood (not easy to find). Sampled dozens of ingredients.
We hand-rolled things in our kitchens. Burned test sticks at 3AM. Talked about feelings way more than any of us were used to.

What we ended up creating became AUROMUSE.

• Scent is emotional.

• Ritual doesn’t have to be fancy.

• Healing can start in small, almost invisible ways.

We use 100% natural plant materials — no synthetics, no lab-created fragrance, no BS.
Each scent is made with intention: for rest, for clarity, for protection, for presence.
Because life is loud. And sometimes you just need something soft.
